The International Private Equity and Venture Capital Valuation (IPEV) Board has today published the 2025 Valuation Guidelines.
The IPEV Valuation Guidelines are widely regarded as the global reference point for private market valuations. Endorsed by private equity and venture capital associations around the world, they provide a robust, principles-based, global framework for determining fair value, anchored in international accounting standards. The 2025 edition offers revised guidance to help practitioners navigate the growing complexity of valuing private assets.
More specifically, this update reflects the practical experience of industry professionals applying IFRS 13 and FASB ASC Topic 820, alongside recent developments in valuation approaches, broader market trends, and stakeholder needs. As in previous revisions, the Board has preserved the historical framework of the Guidelines while introducing targeted clarifications and enhancements in key areas.
Timo Strunkmann-Meister, Chair of the IPEV Board, commented:
“This update reflects best practices in today’s private markets. Our aim has been to provide practitioners with clear, practical guidance without losing the principles that have made the Guidelines so widely adopted. Going forward, the IPEV Board will continue to balance technical rigour and necessary adaptations with global applicability, ensuring that the Guidelines remain both authoritative and relevant in an increasingly complex and fast-evolving investment environment.”
